A word that often conjures images of medieval virtue and religious piety, is much more nuanced than simply abstaining from sexual activity. It is a concept with deep personal significance, applicable to people of all backgrounds and circumstances. Chastity can be understood not just as a practice, but as a value rooted in self-discipline, respect, and mindfulness regarding one’s body and the relationship they wish to foster with the Subject of their devotion.

Locktober is a month-long challenge in October that focuses on the exploration of chastity. Participants, typically men, voluntarily wear chastity devices (like cages) to prevent sexual release for the entire month. The goal of Locktober is to explore self-control, tease and denial, and deepen their devotion to their Mistress or Master.
While rooted in BDSM, Locktober also appeals to those interested in testing their personal discipline and reframing their relationship with sexual gratification. Participants often keep journals of reflection or share their experiences online, creating a sense of community during the challenge. Time locked away from temptation can also offer invaluable opportunity for personal growth.
